Pediatric Dermatology of Orange County
Brandie Metz, MD
As a mom and a fellowship-trained pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Brandie Metz is dedicated to thorough and compassionate care for her patients. Dr. Metz earned her bachelor of science in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, where she graduated cum laude, and her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, where she graduated at the top of her class. Her postgraduate training included a dermatology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, where she served as chief resident. She completed her pediatric dermatology fellowship training at Rady Children’s Hospital and University of California San Diego.
Dr. Metz has published numerous journal articles, contributed to multiple dermatology textbooks, and spoken at dermatology conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Metz started the Children’s Skin Health Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization which aims to provide age-appropriate educational resources for children with skin conditions. She also holds a certificate in Integrative Dermatology.
Dr. Metz lives in Irvine with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, photography, learning ASL with her daughter and watching her son’s baseball games.
Lauren Mabe, PNP
Lauren is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of California. She is passionate about caring for children and has spent her career working to provide patient and family centered care; she is so thankful to be able to do this alongside Dr. Metz. Her higher education started at Boise State University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. From there she spent years in Boston, Massachusetts where she obtained her Masters' of Science in Nursing from Boston College, specializing in Pediatric Primary Care. She joined Pediatric Dermatology in July 2021 after working in pediatric primary care in both Massachusetts and California.
In her free time she enjoys baking, exercising, and spending time with her husband and her daughter.
Amy Swiger, FNP
Amy is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of California. She earned her nursing degree at California State University, San Marcos. Born and raised in Fresno, California, Amy returned home to serve the Central Valley's pediatric community as a nurse at Valley Children's Hospital for 4 years before going on to pursue her higher education. Amy earned her Master's Degree in Nursing at Fresno Pacific University in 2023. She worked as a nurse practitioner in pediatric primary care offices in both Reedley and Clovis, California prior to moving to Orange County.
Amy loves working with children and their families and strives to create an environment where her patients feel comfortable and happy. Her goal is to include her families as the central part of the decision making process when choosing a treatment that is best for her patients.
When Amy is not working you can find her on a walk around her neighborhood, buying another plant for her home or visiting a local coffee shop.
Lacey Carpenter, PA-C
Lacey is a Pediatric Physician Assistant certified in the state of California. She has been working in pediatrics since 2009. She earned her Bachelors Degree at the University of Montana and then went on to get her Masters degree at the University of Colorado Anschutz Child Health Associate PA program. The first half of her career she lived in Washington state where she did both in-patient newborn care and outpatient pediatrics. In 2017 she moved to Huntington Beach, California, where she continued her work in primary care pediatrics. She is passionate about providing quality pediatric care that treats the entire person, both emotionally and physically. Her goal as a clinician is to build lasting relationships with her families ensuring they are met with the most loving and caring environment. Pediatric dermatology has been a dream of Lacey’s and she is so excited to be working with Dr.Metz and her team of amazing people!
Lacey is a mother of two children and in her free time loves to spend time with family, whether it be playing board games at home, traveling, exploring the outdoors, or serving at her church.
Alex Allee, PA-C
Alex is a nationally certified Physician Assistant who first began practicing pediatric dermatology with Dr. Metz in 2018. She is passionate about caring for children and helping their families navigate common skin conditions with confidence and reassurance.
Alex earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Texas A&M University and her Master's of Physician Assistant Studies from Touro University Nevada. She has dedicated her career to pediatric dermatology and values building trusting relationships with patients and their families.
Alex offers telemedicine visits, making it easier for families to receive timely care from the comfort of home.
In her free time, Alex enjoys drinking tea, spending time outdoors, and going on adventures with her husband and two kids.
